New Jersey Diving

Joe & Tricia

After 3 years of diving I've finally decided to dive in New Jersey. I'm spoiled by diving in tropical waters of Key Largo in Florida. Diving in New Jersey where I live is completely different experience. I probably wouldn't go diving if it wasn't good friend of mine Patricia, who persuaded me to go diving with her this summer of 2006. She kept teasing me and repeatedly asked me: "Are you sure you want to go diving here in New Jersey." Another of her repeated remarks was: "You are not gonna chicken out on me, right?" Joe & Starfish I guess there was my manhood inside of me screaming out and didn't allow me to refuse to go diving here in New Jersey after all that teasing from friend of mine even though I wasn't very confident to dive in mysterious waters of New Jersey coast. By the way, she was the one who was late at the deck in the morning of our dives. Anyway, diving in New Jersey wasn't as bad as I thought. Of course, water temperature isn't in the 80's and visibility is much worse than Caribbean. I guess that's what makes diving in New Jersey much more challenging. You definitely need 7mm wetsuit or drysuit, but drysuits are much more expensive. There really aren't any reefs to dive on, so there basically shipwrecks that people dive on. How did it feel to experience New Jersey shipwrecks? Cold, cold and more cold. If you don't think of the fact that your body is cooling down little by little, dive is pretty interesting. Joe & Starfish 2 I didn't want to complain too much about being cold at the front of my friend, because every time she had one answer ready for me and it was: "Suck it up, buttercup!" There is plenty of fish swimming around you and shipwreck is covered with starfish, anemones and other forms of life. When I checked my computer and found out that air goes down quite fast, there wasn't too much time to explore this shipwreck. That's the reason why you want to go back on that shipwreck to explore more mysteries. There is much more to look for on every dive. I'm planning to go diving again in New Jersey. I'm looking forward sharing my next scuba adventures in New Jersey with all of you.
